If students are in stress mode, it will be much harder for them to concentrate and learn new skills. Try teaching a student whose parents are fighting or divorcing, or students who don’t have their basic needs of shelter, food and safety met. Or - think of the student who comes in from the playground crying because their best friend just said they wouldn’t be friends anymore.
