I need to get a Thaillum stress test done & i’m taking Seloken XL 25 twice daily? My doctor has advised me to stop this medication 48 hrs before the test is done?Is this the correct way or stopping the medication may lead to some problems?

Yes it is correct. Taking a beta blocker will make the result of the stress test inaccurate.
You won’t have a problem not taking it for a couple of days.

Is there a way to deal/cure post traumatic stress disorder myself? I don’t have any money or insurance to talk to a lets say counselor, nor do I really think that going to a shrink would be a good idea. I read online and am sure I have PTSD and I know exactly what caused it. There’s no way to avoid situations that trigger memories. I can’t lock myself up all day/night. What can I do? Are there any free support groups?

You can get some useful information from: http://www.healthmedicalinformation.com/category/mental-health/post-traumatic-stress-disorder

All the best

I am stressing over having to take a stress test in a few days, lol! I am overweight and don’t exercise regularly but otherwise have good BP, cholesterol, etc. Am I going to be embarrassed or worse - die, lol?

As long as you don’t have a heart condition that would prevent your heart rate raising you just walk on a treadmill until your rate reaches a certain point. Nothing to worry about and they want to find out how much you can walk before your heart rate reaches a certain point. You may get tired but no needles or anything like that. The chemical ones are just given to heart patients who can’t get their rate up because of beta blockers or other heart meds.

My husband has to go for a stress test tomorrow and wants to know what happens if you cant finish the test how soon will they know if something is wrong?
but how do they know if something is wrong someone told him and i Quote "If they yank you off they table and rush you into surgery youll know" and now hes freaking out.

I have given lots of stress tests. They are designed to show your current fitness/health level. They can show heart disease, but are only around 95% accurate. Tell him it is not a pass/fail situation.

I understand that in this stress test they inject you with something called thallium and I am concerned that my medicine might not go well with this. I told the cardiologist doctor that I am epileptic and am currently taking medication but he said there would be no problem. However, I am scared even though I need to do this test because the other heart tests have been abnormal.

dnt worry, you can go with the test, your doc is true

There are several good sites to look up Mental health issues. One being NAMI.org and then looking up diagnosis. Or Mental Health America.net
And as far as counseling you need to look for someone with experience with PTSD. and yes many people live good productive lives. Feel Free to email me if you’d like to chat. God Bless Reggie

I deal with a lot of stress & anxiety on a regular basis. I’m just one of those people that over analyze everything! I wish it wasn’t so difficult to deal with daily stress so any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

anything from diet, exercise, books to read, websites…

I find that doing regular excersize in the form of something slightly aggressive such as boxing, karate, mountain biking ETC really helps me feel in control & less stressed out.

Also try not to give yourself reasons to be stressed in the first place (I am obviously not aware of your own circumstances & why you are anxious but simply speaking from my own experience) Try to keep your finances in good order, don’t become deeply involved with friends & colleagues dramas ETC.

I think diet is really important for people with anxiety issues as well, I can honestly tell you I feel stressed out for days if I eat cheese. If all else fails I think Bachs rescue remedy is brilliant stuff & it has helped me many times.

I admit, I haven’t been on in a while, but it’s just wow! I can like get myself something good to eat amd sit here for hours just reading other peoples problems trying to help out, it’s also a lot of fun things to read here, and you learn a lot. I really appreciate this website, it gives me time to set me into problems that for once aren’t mine, gives me something else to think of than school. Great stress relief from my point of view, do you share the same opinion?

I agree. I really, really appreciate this site. Whenever I’m anxious or feeling sick, it distracts me. When I’m sad, I try to help others and it makes me feel better. When I ask a question and get an answer, it makes me super happy, and it makes me even happier to answer someone else’s question and hope that I’m brightening their day, too. Offering my advice and experiences really makes me feel like I’m doing something good for someone else. And I like that feeling.

I have recently been fired from work and I am really worried about money.
I am a 27 year old man and yet my only option now will be to borrow money from my mum, and I am dreading asking her.
I am so stressed and ashamed about having to do this. It feels horrible.
Obviously I am looking for work, but I don’t know how I am going to get through this financial stress.
